Delivery (Truck):
We accept and deliver orders throughout South Africa.
For locations outside of the Cape Town (WC) we use trusted furniture moving companies (typically Campos) who consolidate multiple loads to make it more cost effective) to deliver your goods. We will obtain quotations on your behalf, and these will be reviewed by us, with the best one being presented to you for acceptance. We don’t place any mark-up on these, and as such, you would accept and pay for the delivery aspect yourself with the company directly.
Please note we strictly don’t offer hoisting services regarding our deliveries. If you are concerned that access for your ordered goods may be an issue, please communicate this with us prior to delivery.
Delivery (Couriered Small Items):
For small items that can be couriered (such as cutting boards), we accept orders throughout South Africa and offer a professional courier delivery service. The base rate is R150.00 and varies depending on the item and quantities being couriered.
Delivery (Couriered Large Items):
Similar to the above for small items, we can also courier larger items like Bedside Tables, Table Tops (1.8m max), Benches (1.8m max) and Mantles. The base rate is R245.00 and varies depending on the item and quantities being couriered.

All goods remain the property of Good Oak (Pty) Ltd until payment is received in full.
Treatments & Finishes:
We use Rubio Monocoat which is a professional grade product to treat all our goods. This treatment preserves the oaks natural light tones while providing stain, wear and moisture protection and is ideal for hard-wearing surfaces.
Our tried and tested standard finish (see example here) is a natural looking, clear matt treatment with no shine/sheen that leaves surfaces with an enhanced contrast, bringing out the oaks unique characteristics and grain. Please note that this is not a varnish.
All our products come treated and ready to use upon delivery with no further action needed on your part. Each order also includes detailed instructions about care and maintenance.
Usage of Products:
Unless otherwise detailed, all our goods are strictly manufactured and treated for indoor/interior use only (balconies/patios are exterior environments as they are open air spaces). If you are considering purchasing an item for an exterior space like a covered patio, balcony or a similar area, please check with us first so we can advise accordingly.
Maintenance:
As a general rule, please remove any protective wrapping upon receiving your goods, but don’t use them for the next 24 hours as they would have just been treated which means the surfaces need to cure fully to maximum strength before regular usage can commence.
Avoid leaving any oils, chemicals or liquids on your top surfaces to avoid permanent marking. If these substances do come into play, clean them away immediately using a non-abrasive cloth, a drop of dishwashing liquid and a little cold water as needed. Leaving oils, chemicals or liquids overnight will cause stains, as these penetrate through the wood grain as gravity forces them down; the biggest culprits are pot plants and glasses left overnight.
For the maintenance of your top surfaces, in 6-12 months from now, please apply the Care-Oil that was provided to you. This process is best performed in the afternoon so it can be left overnight. Start out by pouring the contents of the bottle all over the top surface so that an even amount is dispersed, then spread the oil all over the surface using the soft/backside of a regular kitchen sponge (this allows oil not to be wasted by soaking into a cloth) until all areas are equally covered. Finish by running the sponge along the grain of the wood from left to right, top to bottom. Now leave the surface to soak in the oil overnight. In the morning, remove the excess oil using a lint-free cloth until no visible oil is left. The surface will be a little tacky for the next few days, but it will dry out eventually. The entire process should take no longer than 5-10 minutes.. You can purchase more oil from these two suppliers on Takealot here or here as needed.
Do not use any aerosol or chemical based applicants (like Mr Min) as this damages the surface treatment.
Our Oak:
Our oak is locally sourced from sustainable importers and consists of the American White variety (referred to as white oak). We select a grade of oak which features minimal knots and a homogenous tone, all of which lend to producing furniture pieces which are pleasing to the eye and structurally sound while being affordable.
We manufacture (and offer) all our goods from two standard thicknesses, with the most common being 22mm finished (rough 26mm), and the most expensive being 34mm (rough 38mm). The former is the most in demand, as it is not only readily available, but more affordable per cubic square.
We do not guarantee any specific widths of oak planks used, rather we select the best oak planks available to us from the lumber yard in order to create a homogenous, attractive and uniform surface. This said, the general finished width of any one oak plank will not be less than 80mm.
Manufacture & Joinery:
All our goods are constructed using various combinations of mortis and tenon, biscuit, dowel and pocket screw jointing with commercial grade wood adhesives to ensure a sound, solid build that will last.
Our tables in particular use wooden biscuits along the length of each oak plank to create a solid table top. The top is then secured to the table body using z-clip fasteners which are designed to allow the top to expand and contract throughout the seasons, resulting in no splitting or cracking.
Due to the nature of the natural material being worked with, we allow for a measurement deviation of up to 5mm for any length/width/height, and up to 2mm for any thickness. For more detailed information about our tables, see here.
General Lead Time:
Our manufacture lead time ranges from 2-8 weeks depending on the particular item ordered. This period may change depending on unavoidable delays created by load-shedding, material availability or other circumstances which are out of our hands; in this event you will be notified beforehand.
Returns & Refunds:
We offer a 30-day refund and return policy provided that the goods were not custom-sized or custom made (this includes specifically stained goods), and are returned to us in the same new condition as when they left our workshop.
The 30-day period commences from the date of delivery, and the total refund amount will not include the original delivery charge. All the goods are to be returned to our address (the cost of which is for the customers account), and a 10% handling fee may apply. Refunds will be processed within 7 working days.
Our policy excludes refund/return requests based upon incorrectly ordered sizes, thicknesses, finishes or edge profiles; in these instances, we may offer an alternative solution, however we reserve the right to reject such requests. Our policy also excludes refund/return requests for designer/agency (ie intermediaries) related orders where the final customer has rejected the order (in part or in full) for no valid reason related to a manufacturing fault.
Cancellations:
In that you’d like to cancel your order, we will refund the total amount paid (less a 5% administration fee), provided that no more than a week (7 days) have passed since order confirmation (the deposit payment date). Order cancellation requests after the 7 day period will be decided upon at our discretion, dependent on whether or not we have already ordered materials, and/or commenced any manufacturing; in the event your order has already been partially or fully completed, we reserve the right to retain 50% of your deposit to cover costs in order to consider a refund. Refunds will be processed within 7 working days.
Warranty:
We offer a 18 month warranty (updated 12-6-2023) from date of purchase against the unlikely discovery of any defects which are found to be of a manufacturing nature, and not due to reasonable wear and tear or ill treatment (eg leaving goods outside or in the sun for long periods) by the customer. If such a defect is found within the warranty period, we undertake to fix and repair the issues found where possible at our expense (excluding transport as per the below) to ensure your satisfaction.
Following on from the above, the total transport costs from the customers address (collecting the goods) and back again (redelivering the goods) will be shared 50/50 unless otherwise agreed upon on a case by case basis.
