Welcome to Good Oak. Based in Cape Town, we’re a small driven team offering a range of locally manufactured solid oak furniture goods, with a professional and prompt turnaround time, delivered anywhere within South Africa. 

So why only oak? Despite the species not being indigenous to South Africa, this tree represents home, and brings back memories of good times spent in the Cape Winelands for many. There’s something truly South African about oak. With it’s easily distinguishable leaves, it’s large overhanging canopy, and the unique aroma enjoyed by wine-lovers and carpenters alike, oak is a pleasure to work with and we’ve dedicate ourselves to it.

Minimalism is our design aesthetic, and it’s at the heart of every one of our pieces. We believe that design shouldn’t be noticed, instead, it should enable efficiencies throughout production while going largely unnoticed in the background so the object can be enjoyed without restraint. We pay homage to the age old philosophy that form follows function, and this kind of simplicity is found within all our pieces, as well as company culture.

Our proposition is simple: we seek to offer value through good design, in order to strike a balance between furniture items that are locally manufactured with quality materials and finishes while being attainable by all.

We have a growing range of solid oak goods from which to choose, and although we tend not take on custom design and manufacture, we welcome your enquiry to see whether the design in question could be added to our range.
