Considered by many to be the corner stone of any respectable kitchen, an island provides a dedicated working surface for meal preparation as well as storage, away from other areas that may be too cluttered or cramped. We’ve taken the classic design, added a few tweaks and brought it all together in one robust piece.
Our Butcher Block Kitchen Island features a solid 38mm white oak top with beautiful colour variation along the length of the grain. We’ve proportioned the island to accommodate most spaces with an overall top surface area of 1200x600mm and a height of 900mm. With double volume shelving in excess of 330mm in height, ample storage space, and a mineral oil treated top surface, this piece is a smart addition to any kitchen.
Our Standard Range features essentials for the home that are well designed, soundly built and accessible. Constructed from 22mm & 34mm solid white oak with a minimalist design aesthetic, these goods express a simple form follows function approach without excess. We offer multiple sizes of each item within this range, finished, sealed and ready to be enjoyed by you.
* Please note the oak top will be darker in real life after having been treated with food-safe mineral oil.

Manufacture & Joinery:
All our goods are constructed using a combination of mortis & tenon, dado, biscuit and dowel jointing with commercial grade wood adhesives to ensure a sound, solid build that will last the test of time.
Due to the nature of the natural material being worked with, we allow for a measurement deviation of up to 5mm for any length/width/height, and up to 2mm in thickness.
Treatments & Finishes:
We use Rubio Monocoat which is a professional grade product to treat all our goods. This treatment preserves the oaks natural light tones while providing stain, wear and moisture protection and is ideal for hard-wearing surfaces.
Our tried and tested standard finish (see example here) is a natural matt look with no shine that leaves surfaces with a subtle enhanced contrast that brings out the oaks unique characteristics and grain. The final treated surface is as close to a raw sanded look as possible while protecting it from stains, moisture and general wear and tear.
All our products come treated and ready to use upon delivery with no further action needed on your part.
Maintenance:
Avoid leaving any oils, chemicals or liquids on your top surfaces to avoid permanent marking. If these substances do come into play, clean them away immediately using a non-abrasive cloth, a drop of dishwashing liquid and a little cold water as needed. Leaving oils, chemicals or liquids overnight will cause stains, as these penetrate through the wood grain as gravity forces them down; the biggest culprits are pot plants and glasses left overnight.
For the regular maintenance and upkeep of your top surfaces, once every 6-12 months, apply our Care-Oil by using the soft side of a new kitchen sponge (the sponge allows for easy application by squeezing and/or dabbing), alternatively a soft cloth will do. Working from left to right in sections, pour enough Care-Oil on your top surface, then spread it thinly and evenly along the length of the grain, making sure to cover all areas equally. Leave the previous section to rest for a few minutes and move on until the entire surface is complete. Now using a new cloth, perform a final gentle wipe along the entire length of the surface to ensure there are no streaks while removing any excess (there should be no pooling or visible oils marks). Once complete, leave the surface to dry for 6 hours. The entire process should take no longer than 5-10 minutes.
Do not use any aerosol or chemical based applicants (like Mr Min) as this damages the surface treatment.
Environment & Usage:
Always keep your goods inside, and out of direct sunlight/rain/wind to avoid weathering and possible damage. If your goods are exposed to regular sunlight for long hours, be extra diligent about following the maintenance procedure above to ensure adequate moisture.
Unless otherwise stated, all our goods are manufactured and treated for indoor/interior use only (balconies/patios are exterior environments as they are open air spaces). If you are considering purchasing an item for an exterior space like a covered patio, balcony or a similar area, please check with us first so we can advise accordingly.
Our Oak:
Our oak is locally sourced from sustainable importers and consists of the American White variety (referred to as white oak). We select a grade of oak which features minimal knots and a homogenous tone, all of which lend to producing furniture pieces which are pleasing to the eye and structurally sound.
We manufacture all our goods from two standard finished thicknesses, namely 22mm or 34mm solid oak. You will note the thickness used this when browsing our goods.
We do not guarantee any specific widths of oak planks used, rather we select the best oak planks available to us in order to create a homogenous, attractive and uniform surface with no striping. The general width of any one oak plank will not be less than 100mm.
